POSITION OVERVIEW:

The IT Operations Manager plays a critical role in maintaining and advancing the firm’s technology infrastructure. This role oversees daily IT service delivery in collaboration with our Managed Service Provider (MSP), manages IT assets and procurement, and ensures systems and processes support the firm's evolving needs. Working closely with the CTO, this person brings structure, clarity, and reliability to IT operations—empowering our team to deliver high-quality work, securely and efficiently.

 

LOCATION:

This position can be based in either our Sewickley, PA or Arlington, VA office, with onsite work required Tuesday through Thursday each week. Travel to the other office will be required as needed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee MSP-led IT service desk operations, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Standardize IT documentation, reporting, and communication for transparency and accountability.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, patching schedules, and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure business continuity through robust backup, recovery, and cybersecurity practices.
  • Monitor service levels and proactively address recurring IT issues.
  • Partner with CTO to align IT support with project and business needs.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Lead procurement of IT hardware, software, and services—from vendor selection to contract management.
  • Align purchasing decisions with firm budgets, compliance requirements, and strategic goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and oversee renewals to ensure cost-effective service.
  • Forecast procurement needs based on project pipelines, staffing, and asset lifecycle planning.

IT Asset Management

  • Develop and manage the full lifecycle of IT assets—from acquisition through retirement.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of hardware, software, licenses, and warranties.
  • Track allocation and utilization across projects, staff, and offices.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure license and asset compliance.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure IT operations follow internal policies and external regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with MSP to maintain a secure and compliant IT environment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining IT policies including acceptable use, password policies, and data retention.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

What's Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT infrastructure (networks, servers, cloud platforms, cybersecurity).
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

What Puts You Ahead:

  • Prior experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Experience with Autodesk, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar AEC software.
  • Strong vendor and MSP management experience.
  • Familiarity with CMMC compliance
  • IT certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Project+.
