Position Overview
AE Works is looking for a talented Architect 4 to join our team and to actively participate in projects. In this role, you will have an active sense of ownership and responsibility for projects of all sizes. Has a role in firm marketing and management, owns and is responsible for projects and firm performance. Identifies and implements improvements to internal systems. Identifies ways to innovate on processes.
You will be part of a studio, working closely with architects, interior designers, engineers and other internal team members, and subconsultants. This position will provide you with the ability to grow the skills of leadership, communication, and problem-solving. You’ll be able to grow to mentor new team members, champion best practices, and represent AE Works at industry events.
Location: Arlington, VA and Pittsburgh PA with travel to client and project sites.
Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities: Leads the design approach for medium to large sized projects. Supervises preparation and submission of documents for all project phases. Provides guidance on complex issues. Demonstrates an understanding of all design disciplines. Conducts quality control reviews of others work. Serves as a resource on complex design issues to others in the firm. Mentors and trains staff. Provides input to firm leadership on workforce planning and engagement related to recruiting. Contributes to staff development plans and performance reviews. Ability to manage projects as well as people.
Client Engagement: Assumes primary responsibility for client leadership, communication and satisfaction. Owns several client relationships and begins to bring in new clients. Understands the client mindset and helps client navigate roadblocks.
Quality Assurance: Support the project performance and conduct thorough reviews of the project documents, to ensure projects meet quality standards and client expectations. Provides review of documents to others work within the company.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry advancements, emerging technologies, and market trends. Seek continuous education to be better informed of the emerging technologies and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and consultants, to ensure seamless integration of design and construction efforts. Promote open communication and coordination to resolve challenges and achieve project goals efficiently.
Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of industry experience required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Revit, High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams. Skilled with using cloud based and mobile technology for collaboration. This position requires project management skills as well as people management skills.
- Attributes: Exceptional communication and listening skills, capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Strong leadership and organizational abilities, along with a commitment to actively engage and contribute to our company culture.
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture.
- Licensure: Registration required, RA, NCARB.
- Certification: LEED AP, WELL is a plus but not required
