POSITION OVERVIEW:
AE Works is looking for a talented Assistant Project Manager to join our team and assist the Project Lead (Sr. Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge) in developing design and construction documents for bidding and construction. You will assist the Project Lead (Sr. Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge) during the Construction Administration Phase. Specific responsibilities during this phase include but are not limited to transfer of review comments to shop drawings & submittals; transmittance of such submittals/shop drawings.
LOCATION:
Arlington, VA or Pittsburgh, PA with travel to client and project sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for assisting the lead Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager during the entire architectural engineering project on a day-to-day basis from the Schematic Design/Conception phase through to Design Development, Construction Drawings, Bidding/Contract Negotiation, Construction Administration and Closeout phases. These functions are performed under the direct supervision of a Senior Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge.
- Performs these functions in various capacities across multiple architectural engineering projects at any one time, during any one of the aforementioned project phases.
QUALIFICATIONS
What’s Required:
-
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.

Basic schematic design, space planning, and programming skills.

Ability to work independently and under the supervision of a Sr. Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge. Possess a working knowledge of federal, state, and local building administrative and energy codes related to various building projects. Working knowledge of modern architectural and construction means and methods, with the ability to sufficiently detail these systems.

Understanding of construction drawing and detailing for various building systems. Ability to recognize architectural design problems and advise the Project Management team of any issues.
What Puts You Ahead:

Ability to proactively identify challenges and opportunities, take initiative to drive projects forward, and anticipate team and client needs before they arise.

Satisfactory understanding of MEP, structural, and site/civil engineering trades, along with awareness of their impact on the architectural design concept. Demonstrated ability to generally coordinate structural, MEP, and civil engineering drawings with architectural contract documents.

Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to develop effective personal time management skills, prioritize assigned tasks, and advise the Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge of any deviations from project timelines and milestones.
